Yuneymis “Yuni” Barreto is an Associate Attorney at Luis E. Barreto & Associates, P.A., where she practices exclusively in estate planning, trust and estate administration, taxation of trusts and estates, and trust and estate litigation.
Born and raised in Cuba, Yuni completed five years of legal education at the University of Havana School of Law before relocating to the United States. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies, Magna Cum Laude, from Keiser University, followed by her Juris Doctor from the Florida International University College of Law in December 2015, where she received the C.A.L.I. Excellence for the Future Award in both Family Law and Criminal Law.
In 2019, she earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Estate Planning through the Heckerling Graduate Program at the University of Miami School of Law. She has since earned a second Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law, further deepening her ability to advise clients on estate and gift tax minimization, generation-skipping transfer planning, and the income tax implications of trust and estate administration.
A member of the Florida Bar since 2016, Yuni counsels families and fiduciaries on wealth preservation and transfer strategies, including complex trust structures, multi-generational estate plans, and tax-driven succession planning. She manages all phases of trust and estate administration and represents clients in contested probate and trust litigation. She has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Florida International University College of Law, supervising the FIU Embrace/Guardianship Pro Bono Project through the Community Lawyering Clinic.
Yuni is fluent in both English and Spanish and serves clients throughout South Florida and beyond.
